Trey brings his night owl energy to B999 every evening from 7 to midnight.
Trey’s journey into broadcasting traces back to 1994 — completely by chance. After mailing a thank you letter to the overnight girl at a country station for playing his request, he was fascinated by how fast she managed to get it on the air as the very next song. One call to the request line turned into many, eventually leading to a studio tour, where he was overwhelmed by the sight of all the equipment from the live analog days of radio. That friendship inspired his career. By 1996, Trey had landed his first radio job as a board operator with the help of a radio engineer who warned him, “Son, you’re crazy for getting into this business — but I can help you.”
Before joining B999 in early 2023, Trey worked as a freight train conductor, spent time on the air in the Florida market, and gained experience in television — but every path kept pulling him back to the mic.
Off the air, Trey is a quiet homebody who enjoys the slower, simpler side of life without much technology or texting. He’s drawn to rugged, jacked up trucks, humid summer nights, and late night drives through the country after midnight with classic rock on repeat. He’s an amateur rodeo bull rider and a devoted Joan Crawford binge watcher.
Ask Trey what matters most to him about working in broadcasting, and he’ll tell you: “It’s always been the magic of it all.” The power to be part of someone’s day. The behind the scenes stories that may shock you if the station walls could talk. The bloopers — on air or not — that keep the job unpredictable. What drives him most is seeing people discover their own joy and passion, whether it’s a career or a hobby that lights them up.
